Tips on What to Wear for Your Photoshoot

What to wear? What to wear?

Wear something that is comfortable and showcases your personality. It also can be a great time to get dressed up and wear something fun. It’s up to you but here are a few suggestions.

How should you choose your outfit?

I recommend selecting lighter, neutral tones. Solid colors or neutral colors like creams, grays, and tans work well. Soft pastels fit into all-natural outdoor environments-especially the beach.

Mix it up!

Choose a color scheme. Plan each outfit with “main color” and complimentary colors. The “main color” you see the most in an outfit, complementary color has a smaller role. For families, each person have a different main color, and then tie in and vary complementary colors. It will all come together and look great.

Should we match?

Coordinate but don’t match. Mix up colors and shades so you’re not wearing the same top and bottoms (khakis and white shirts). Outfits will look put together when the color palette and wardrobe pieces coordinate and don’t match. Mix up the pieces for each family member.

Add layers and accessories

Layers add to your photos as well. Wear jewelry, scarves, hats, or jackets. This will add texture and interest. Plus it will show off your personality. Layers can be removed to create a completely different look. Remove a jacket, and you have another outfit.

What should you avoid?

Shirts that have text, logos, or characters distract from you. Neon, bright, or small patterned clothing can be distracting. This takes away the focus from YOU.

Whatever you choose you should feel comfortable, relaxed, and show your personality!
