We have all heard the African Proverb “It takes

We have all heard the African Proverb “It takes a village to raise a child”. I never thought much about that saying until I had kids of my own. As a parent at times I’ve felt alone in my own struggles. However, raising kids alone, without a support system doesn’t lead to great mental health. I know I’ve felt stressed, exhausted, judged, and not good enough. This is why it takes more than just parents to help in raising children. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends can lighten that load or give a break to just refresh. 0ur children will also have experiences we cannot give them and expose them to in a different way.

We may not live in close proximities such as the villages of the past. But the old adage is still very true today. We need help in raising our children to make them feel safe, creative, encourage, and support.

It is true families have changed over the years. Once living all together to being spread out over different states or even countries. Often times we are caught up in our lives we don’t even have the time to even know who our neighbors are. Social Media and the internet often have us looking at screens than forging friendships. As a result, families are missing out on their children learning and have much needed support.

The benefits of having and building a community it totally worth it. Some of the benefits of having community is a safe environment for childcare and providing your children with a social network they can trust. Children are more likely to overcome challenges and be more successful. They gain access to a wider range of skills, opinions, and activities. They learn how to interact with all types of people. In addition, you will be able to share, band together and gain ideas into different parentiing systems. As a result, your child will grow up to be a well-rounded adult when they are influenced by many different people and positive sources.

But for now, the house is quiet, no fighting, or 20 cups all over the counter.🤣 I have a couple more hours until reality hits again!🤣

Family is like branches on a tree we all grow in different directions, yet our roots remain as one.🌳

You may only see three generations in these photographs. But one is being represented by a ring, who was once a mother, a grandmother, and now a great grandmother.

What a special way of being represented in the photograph. Always staying near to their hearts. 💕

The only person to compete with is yourself.  🤓

Why do we compare? Or care about what other people are accomplishing?

When we look on social media, we see posts and see the success. But we don’t always see the fails, misses and the hard work to get there.  We don’t know what is going on behind the scenes.

We all start off scared and anxious.  And many times feel like we are not where we want to be. We don’t achieve our goals by hoping or watching others.

We create are own path. The results we expect to achieve our based on the work we put in. All of us are different and progress at different rates. We set are own values and metrics. But, no matter how small our accomplishments may seem. They all add up.

Focus on your strengths. Take alook back at where you’ve been and how much you have grown.  When we compete with ourselves, we decide what matters.  We don’t have the comparative feelings that brings loss of joy.  We don’t get discouraged by thinking someone is better than us.  Someone will always be better than us. If we accept that, we will be better at celebrating others accomplishments, and be inspired to keep pursuing our own.

I hear from a lot of people they don’t like photographing on cloudy days.

Cloudy days have good light. The clouds are like a giant softbox. 🌫

Here is a tip next time you’re taking pics on a cloudy day.

Find the sun and have your subject face it, if possible. It lights up the eyes and face! 🤩

10 year photos I wanted to do a little different this year. I saw this box was a thing and of course asked @nrdellinger can you make me a box? He’s like a box? Okay...so shout out to him he always supports me no matter what my idea of the week is😂😂

Anyway a photo that captures a few of the things they are into at 10. Music, drawing, video games, and football. Our first crack at it, I know more to come now that we have a box!
